

Cynthia G. Angelos recently resigned as Chief Judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit which encompasses Okeechobee, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin Counties to become a partner in the Firm. Cynthia was appointed as a Circuit Court Judge in 1994. In addition to serving as Chief Judge, she served as Administrative Judge in both the Criminal and Appellate Divisions. She presided over both the Civil and Criminal Divisions in St. Lucie and Martin Counties, during which time she tried several hundred cases. She sat as an Associate Judge with the Fourth District Court of Appeal in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2001. Judge Angelos was nominated by the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for United States District Court Judge in 2003 at which time she interviewed at the White House and with Florida's U.S. Senators. She was very active with the Florida Legislature in the implementation of Article V Revision 7 to Florida's Constitution pertaining to the organization and operation of Florida's courts. Before taking the bench, Cynthia specialized in land use and zoning and acted as counsel to both developers and land owners. She represented the City of Port St. Lucie in the G.D.C. bankruptcy which resulted in a land for debt swap resulting in a significant benefit to the City of Port St. Lucie. She was the President of the Port St. Lucie Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors of the Treasure Coast Builders Association, Economic Development Council, United Way and Association of Retarded Citizens. She was Chairperson of the St. Lucie County Land Acquisition Committee and a member of the St. Lucie County Comprehensive Plan Review Board as well as the St. Lucie County Infrastructure Task Force. She was a member of the Florida Bar Ethics Committee and acted as the Legislative Contact for the Florida Bar. Cynthia graduated in the top 10% of her law school class at George Mason University School of Law in 1982 and graduated from James Madison University with an undergraduate degree in Political Science. After spending over a decade in the courtroom on a daily basis, Cynthia concentrates in litigation in all areas, as well as land use and zoning and real estate acquisitions. | |||||||||||||
