John Chapman is an associate with Weiss, Handler, Angelos & Cornwell, P.A. and is working from the Firm's Port St. Lucie office. He focuses his practice in all phases of civil and commercial litigation, land use, construction litigation and real estate development.
During John's first year in law school, he served as a law clerk to the General Counsel to the Commissioner of Education. In John's final two years of law school, John served as a law clerk to the law firms of Ausley & McMullen, P.A., and Apgar & Pelham. Upon graduation from law school, John began his career working as a land use attorney in Dean, Mead, Egerton, Bloodworth, Capouano and Bozarth's Merritt Island office under the tutelage of well-known land use attorney Leonard Spielvogel. In 2000, John accepted a position as a law clerk to the Honorable Karla R. Spaulding, United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida. After completing a two-year clerkship with Judge Spaulding, John worked for two and a half years as a commercial litigator with the law firm of Page, Mrachek, Fitzgerald & Rose, P.A. ("Page Mrachek"). In 2004, John left his position with Page Mrachek to become general counsel to a South Florida based real estate development and construction company. While serving in this position, John gained valuable experience on a variety of real estate development and construction issues. In addition, John passed the Florida General Contractor's Exam in 2005, and is eligible for issuance of a Certified Building Contractor's License. John joined the Firm in August of 2007, and practices out of the Firm's Port St. Lucie office with Cynthia G. Angelos, Esq.
John was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1999. John graduated Magna Cum Laude from Widener University 's Honors Program in 1995. While at Widener University , John lettered in both football and baseball.
John graduated Florida State University College of Law with honors, having contributed to both Law Review and the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1999.
